Goalposts Still Moving

Does anyone else find it bizarre that pro-war types seem to be trying to use the murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh as some sort of justification or illustration of why we made war on Iraq?  Is every bad thing a Muslim does from here on in going to be latently applied ex post facto to the war in Iraq?  Has "He was gaming the [oil for food] system!!!" already worn itself out?

Of course, conservatives are against the classification of "hate crimes" as any different than "regular crimes" in terms of criminal justice, but in these cases the implications seem to have flown past domestic justice systems and into the international arena.

I'm just asking.
